The Washington Capitals were on ice Thursday for a practice as they prepare to take on the Jets Friday night in Winnipeg. Some updates from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:
Nicklas Backstrom skated for the third consecutive day, starting his session around 9:15 AM and skating for around 30 minutes. After his skate, he spoke with the media and was in great spirits, speaking of how he feels much better and is improving. He noted, however, that he will not rush back, though the temptation is immense.
The lines were Ovechkin-Laich-Johansson, Chimera-Perreault-Semin, Hendricks-Beagle-Brouwer, and Knuble-Aucoin-Halpern-Ward. However, early in the skate, Ovechkin collided with Mike Knuble during a drill and was down on the ice for about two minutes. The Caps' captain then moved to the bench and, eventually, the locker room, on his own power. After the skate, Dale Hunter told the media that the injury was not to his head and that he will go on the road trip.
That's all for now.
