Ovechkin Falls Short in Bratislava
Alex Ovechkin and the vaunted Russian Team fell 7-4 to the Czech Republic in the highest-scoring Bronze Medal game in history earlier this afternoon. In a re-match of last year's gold medal match, the Russian team was unable to achieve a different result.
Team Finland topped Team Sweden in the gold medal game. Finland had bested Russia 3-0 in the semifinal on Friday.

Alex Ovechkin finished the tournament scoreless in 5 games. He averaged 17:14 of ice time per night, fired 23 shots on goal, and finished with a -3 rating. Fortunately, the Russians still retain the top ranking in the world, but that doesn't mean they aren't disappointed by coming home empty-handed.
