As the ageless Schoolhouse Rock song tells us, "Three is a magic number, yes it is- it's a magic number." As it important as it was growing up, the number three is even more important to the Washington Capitals- as it's their magic number. Three Washington wins, or three losses by the Atlanta Thrashers will lock up a third straight Southeast Division title, and third straight playoff appearance for the Caps.
All this with 17 games left in the books.
Three could also be a magic number for Caps Captain Alex Ovechkin, who's looking for his third straight Hart Memorial and "Rocket" Richard Trophies, as well as his third straight Lester B. Pearson Award.

Home ice advantage throughout the playoffs is a very good thing, especially for the team who calls the home crowd the seventh man on the ice. :-)
