A good night for Eric's: Capitals 2, Rangers 0

Jose Theodore turned away 30 of New York's shots, and Eric's Fehr and Belanger lit the lamp in the Washington Capitals 2-0 win over the visiting Rangers. The Caps remain unbeaten on this side of the Olympic break, and have now extended their franchise-best home win streak to 13 games, and is 25-3-3 on Verizon Center ice on the season. It wasn't the most exciting game, or the prettiest, but a win is a win and the two points earned still smell the same. Let's look at the tape:

Did Theo's success stem from Green's pregame tip of "Use this to stop the pucks"? Click to find out!

The Good:

- Jose Theodore. We can't say it enough, but Shut-the-door looked great in all aspects - rebound control, side to side movement, staying calm, and a returned quickness to his glove hand. He's now 12-0-2 in his last 14 starts.

- The passing on both goals. Eric Fehr's power play goal was the result of a great heads up pass from Tomas Fleishmann and Belanger was able to convert on Alex Semin's dream of a pass to Brooks Laich. I can't even make the boys do that in NHL 2K10.

- With his goal tonight Fehr continued his recent resurgence, playing part in the Caps first goal each game since the break.

The Bad:

- Where for art thou, Alex Ovechkin? Ovie went pointless (pun intended) for the third time in four games, and has not scored a goal in six straight contests. While I'm not worried his Vancouver hangover will be long gone come mid-April, I'd sure like to see some first-line offense from guys not named Mike Knuble.

- With the Caps already having the two-man advantage, Mike Green was tripped on a breakway on Alex Auld. While I am admittedly not the most guy familiar with the hockey rule book on the block, the non-call was ridiculous.

The Ugly:

- Shaone Morrison's pass to Brandon Dubinsky that forced Theo to prove his worth early in the contest. That kind of hockey isn't going to get the Caps far in the playoffs, and ShaMo can't afford to play that way with the influx of Dmen if he hopes to continue finding ice time.
